Other Facilities
Medical Care
All students will have to undergo a thorough medical check
up once a year by the college doctor. There will be nurse to look
after the other needs of the students. Students can avail of medical
help in the sick-room of the college, whenever necessary.
Fee Concession
All needy and deserving students can apply for fee concessions.
Fees must be paid until the concession has been obtained. No refund
will be made of the fees already paid. Concession is subject to
good conduct, regular attendance and satisfactory progress in
studies. It may be withdrawn, if any student, at any time found
wanting in any of these.
Student's
Aid Fund
Financial assistance will also be given to needy and deserving
students from the Student's Aid Fund.
College
Magazine
The students' magazine 'Jyoti' is brought out annually. It
provides students with a powerful medium for expressing their
creativity in Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Bengali and Punjabi.
World University Service
Every student being a member of the WUS, can avail of medical
facilities and medicines provided by the Centre.
Departmental Associations
The Departments have their own Departmental Associations. Each
Association organises debates, seminars and other competitions,
and at times, invites distinguished speakers. The Departmental
Associations are run by the elected student office bearers assisted
by Staff Advisors.
Extension Programmes
A. Women's Development Centre
The College has a Women's Development Centre under which a counselling
unit, with a trained counsellor functions. The Centre organises
symposia and workshops to create awareness about family health,
women's role in society, women related problems and also career-counselling.
B. Short-term Certificate Course in Energy and Environment
Awareness
A certificate course in Energy and Environment Awareness is conducted
in Lakshmibai College under the auspices of the Centre for Science
Education and Communication, University of Delhi. The course covers
many important issues concerning Energy and Environmentenergy
crisis and various forms of pollutionits impact on the earth
system and human beings. Classes are held twice a week for fifteen
weeks, in the afternoon in the College premises. A certificate
is awarded to the students at the successful completion of the
course. The course is optional. The details of the course are
available with the teacher co-ordinators, Mrs. Leena Roy of the
Department of English and Mrs. Nirmal Agarwal of the Department
of Political Science.
Students' Union
All extra curricular activities of the college are co-ordinated
and scheduled by the students union consisting of elected members.
The Students' Union encourages and organizes regular programmes
of extra-curricular activities and expects all the students of
the college to take keen interest in them and attend the various
functions. Before permitting their wards to go on tours/picnics
etc. the parents are advised to verify and confirm the programme
from the college authorities.
Students' Common Room
The College has a well furnished Common Room with a lady attendant
and facilities for indoor games for the students where they can
relax during their free time.
Transport
In addition to special buses, routes serving Lakshmibai College
are 220, 166, 141, 912, 913.
College will
follow a six day teaching schedule per week. There will be three
terms in the academic year. There will be a movable Autumn break
in Sept - Oct to minimise the loss of teaching days on account
of festival related holidays. The college also has a winter break
in Dec - Jan.
